All that we were, are, and will become

ENG

The quest for understanding the purpose and significance of our existence dates back to the dawn of human history. Around 2200, for the first time ever, mankind was gifted with answers to the most profound philosophical questions of the age, and this newfound knowledge about the nature of being sparked a fascination that extended to practical possibilities as well. As part of this exhibition, recordings of statements from philosophers of “first” or “original” philosophy, such as Socrates, Emerson, and Kierkegaard, are on display. These great thinkers expound upon the answers that defined the focus of their life’s work. With the popularisation of the ability to communicate across the divide of life and death, postcards were also preserved. These postcards, which were to be delivered by 2022, offer us fragmentary and authentic testimony about the newly-created circumstances of the time. These postcards and the pictures  “All that we were, are, and will become” serve as the first preserved family portraits, representing everything and everyone that we are thus far, those who came before us, and those who will come after us.
